Dr. Ngaseppam Iboyaima Singh *
Shri Ngasepam Ibochou Singh residing at Sagolband Terakeithel Khuraijam Leirak has left heavenly abode on 21st Feb 2015.
He was the 2nd child (dob: 17 Oct. 1933) among 8 brothers and two sisters of Ngasepam family.
After retirement form Assam Rifles (Tezpur) as an accountant (Havildar), he came back to Manipur and continued his service in SSB and finally in Loktak Hydro project (NHPC), Leimatak.
Shri Ibochou was the person who brought the game "HOUSIE" first time in Manipur, initially at Sagolband Terakeithel area during 1968-69. He was using the number coins made of rubber (eraser) and self-hand written tickets.
Ticket price was 50 p each and this will make the prizes like quick five, each line, four corners and star for Rs. 1 each and full house for Rs. 15 in normal and maximum of Rs. 50 during holidays.
His popular slogans/catchphrases in the play are:
o Hitler's eye – no. 1,
o Ulta pulta - no. 69,
o Japan war – 39,
o One Little Duck – no. 2,
o Unlucky No. 13,
o One Fat Lady – no. 8,
o Double Hockey Stick – 77,
o Love In Tokyo – 3,
o Top Of The Housie - 99, etc.
Nowadays, the game is so popular and accepted in the state and played in various occasions for different intentions.
There were few who could compare to Shri Ibochou.
My family and I were deeply saddened by the news of such an amazing person who passed away and who happened to be my dear Dad.
May his soul rest in peace.
