Career option related to Combating Climate Change

We have mentioned about certain career option related to climate change in our last edition. This edition we shall publish some more options which can be choose by students and job aspirants.
Some options include green jobs, green entrepreneurship, climate change, media, climate change education and activism, etc. One must be innovative and creative to be associated in careers which are for combating or adapting or mitigating climate change.
Green / Sustainable Business:
Sustainable business, or green business, is an enterprise that has minimal negative impact on the global or local environment, community, society, or economy—a business that strives to meet the triple bottom line. Often, sustainable businesses have progressive environmental and human rights policies.
Green business has been seen as a possible mediator of economic-environmental relations, and if proliferated, would serve to diversify our economy, even if it has a negligible effect at lowering atmospheric CO2 levels. The definition of “green jobs” is ambiguous, but it is generally agreed that these jobs, the result of green business, should be linked to clean energy, and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
Media: All those who are interested in media or journalism may focus and specialize on green reporting or environmental reporting. Once can be specialized on the issues or climate change and write or document stories for generating awareness on climate through various media.
Media may be print, electronic or even new media. There are opportunities for the journalist to attend international events related to climate change and report on those issues.
CC Education: One of the best jobs may be joining educational institutions or research institute for climate change education. There are many NGOs and civil society organisation who conducts various awareness programmes and other programme to sensitize individuals and students on the issue of climate change. There are many national and international organisations where one may join with required qualification.
Activism: There are many organisations that work on activism and this is important to pressurize government to take climate friendly decisions. There are many international convention and treaties related to climate change and through proper activism only those can be made climate friendly and pro people.
Climate Law: Lawyers may also work in this field as legal guidance is necessary and important in country like India. There are many lawyers who have done tremendous work for the conservation and protection of environment from legal perspectives.
There are many other opportunities in this field. The most important is all of us need to be aware on the issue and hence more scope in generating awareness. As its problem in one side, so it is also prospect for individuals who can expertise themselves related to combating, adapting or mitigating climate change.
Manipur and North East being bio diversity hot spot brings more opportunity for individuals to work for the conservation of bio diversity. Conservation of bio diversity is nothing but steps towards combating climate change.

National Entrepreneur Award: The National Entrepreneurship Awards have been instituted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE) to encourage a culture of entrepreneurship across the country. These premier awards seek to recognise and honour entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship ecosystem builders for their outstanding efforts.
There are different categories which includes entrepreneurs from difficult areas which includes north eastern region , women entrepreneur , entrepreneur from ST/SC category , Social Enterprises , Entrepreneur from Persons with Disability (PwD) category , etc . Aspirants may apply before 15th September.
