- through experiences shared by students and alumni -
By:- Raju Athokpam *
It’s an inevitable fact that we all faced a dilemma after our 10+2 examination. The road we might pursue all reckon on which path we take at this particular crossroad and it impacts our career as well as our lives to an unfathomable extent. It is of utmost importance that we choose our career path with a very rational approach. Many students had left behind better opportunities they could have opted for because of the lack of awareness and information. Such blunders are too costly to be made.
A team of young minds came up with an endeavor which might provide guidance to the young and budding generations of the state. The idea is simple. They reach out to the Manipuri students and alumni of various colleges of varied streams round the globe via personal contacts, social networking sties and all possible means and collected data regarding their experiences in their colleges and alma mater. (A sample of the mail can be found in
http://www.careermanipur.com/survey_mail/). The data so hoarded have been used as the database for this website
www.careermanipur.com
In this website, any student can view what the students and alumni say about their particular college/alma mater, quality of education, faculty, hostel system, extracurricular activities , do’s and don’ts, any information any student would consider before opting a college. This provides a platform where a student can have a brief picture of the college of their choice and also interact with the alumni if the need be. Also, there is a forum (
forums.careermanipur.com) in the site where discussions will be done. Any inquisitive question can be raised where the members would try to sort out through discussions and interaction.
This is a simple gesture by the students of Manipur that they are striving hard to move ahead and dream of a better Manipur. Though the information shared might be limited, it is believed that this initiative will come of a long way and provide more information which will help the burgeoning generations have a bright future.
Hence the name “Career Manipur” - Steering your career through shared experiences...
They extend their heartiest gratitude to all who had gladly taken out some few minutes and contributed to the development of the website.
