3-day religious congregation of the Muslims in Manipur at Kiyamgei Laphupat on 30th March, 2015
The three-day state-level religious congregation of the Muslims, Tablighi Ijtema, concludes on March 30. The Ijtema, held at Kiyamgei Laphupat paddy field, in Imphal East District, was closed with a supplication (dua) and was attended by more than 20,000 Muslims from various parts of the state, including Muslim women, making it the largest congregation of Manipuri Muslims.
The Ijtema, which commenced on March 28, was graced by the presence of distinguished Islamic scholars and Tablighis (Jamati Bujrugs), generally referred to as Akabirins, from within and outside the state.
Offering congregational prayers and delivery of sermons (waz) by prominent Tablighis on fundamental aspects of Tabligh and the Islamic way of life as prescribed in the Quran and Hadith were the main highlights of the gathering. Devout Muslims in thousands stayed at the venue by pegging tents. Hotels were opened which provided food during the congregation.
