The Shillong Manipuri Students’ Union (SMSU), Shillong has organized and observed The 124th Patriots’ Day at Manipur House, Red Land Laitumkhrah, Shillong with the Theme “
At the stroke of Midnight, When the World Sleeps Manipur will awake with Life and Shine” with different delegates, Dr. Salam D. Singh District Youth Coordinator Nehru, Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India as Chief Guest; P Sonamani, President of Manipur Association North East India (MANEI) and a former Senior Police Officer as Guest of Honour and Chongtham Thangamba Meetei (Krish), the Advisor of SMSU as President of the function and was presided by Thokchom Sobhajit, the General Secy. of SMSU and Vote of thanks of the function were given by N. Daniel Mangang, Games and Sport Secy, SMSU.
Various Elders and Organizations and Students of different Colleges, Schools and other Institutes and Universities of Shillong and other parts of Meghalaya were present at the function. Different views were expressed as on how the Patriots’ Day observation has come into existence and why we are giving importance to it.

The function also focused on the Responsibilities and Co-ordination among us irrespective of Cast, Religion and Gender that one has to perform for the betterment and welfare of the State and Country as a whole. A tribute was given with flower garments and 1 minute silent also observed to the Great Heroes / Freedom Fighters of Manipur and who laid their Life for the Motherland (Manipur) against the British during Anglo Manipur War 1891.”
