This is the second posthumous publication authored by Padmashree Nilakanta. The first book was a poetry book entitled Pukning Liekolgi Athuppada, published by B S Rajkumar in Y2K. The writer’s son Dr Dilipkumar aged 44 years is now serving as a physician at Danville city of the USA. The writer had a chance to visit the American States with his better half. During the period June 1999 to December 1999, when the writer was staying at Danville he had completed the manuscript of this book. The book covers various aspects including American literature, culture, politics, film, music and theatre. While reading the book it seems that we are walking on the roads of America and witnessing the settings. Besides Bangladesh and Myanmar the Manipuris inhabit US, Canada and even Germany. Now the Manipuris born in America speak American English as if their mother tongue. Are they the Manipuri or the American or the Manipuri-American, asked the writer. There is an association called North American Manipuri Association. The writer participated in the 8th Annual session of this Association. This association is formed by the Manipuris inhabited Canada and US. It is so believed that there are 100 Manipuris in the North America. During the annual session the members discussed the current problems in Manipur like the violation of human rights. |
