The people of the state for that matter the Government of Manipur do not have to live with one meal only to fight Bishnupuriya issue. Nor the eating of grass does not arise at all. We are the truth. It is the other side who should eat one meal and grass for they are spreading false and concocted stories that they are real Manipuris. Bishnupriya can be recognized as a community. The people of the state are not against the Bishnupriyas making attempt to progress in any field. But if they try to add Manipuri as suffix or prefix, to their community name it is time they realize the grave danger that awaits them. After all what does Manipuri stand for? Manipuri connotes those who are Manipuris. Moreover Bishnupriya speaks a language that cannot be understood by a Manipurj. Bishnupriya issue keeps on tormenting the mind of every thinking people in the state. This is one issue, which should be fought through multi-pronged strategy, politically, legally and other means available at our disposal. A language that had entered the eighth schedule of the constitution of India cannot be challenged by a handful of Bishnurpiyas. The Bishnurpiya movement, which is aimed at eating into the vitals of the Manipuri prosperity, should be crushed at all cost. The movement is really dangerous. Delay in elimination of the movement will backfire. The Union Government should be told that the people of the state will not and cannot bear to see Bishnupriyas inching towards to gain recognition its language as Manipuri. Bishnupriyas can endeavor hard to gain recognition by Sangeet Natak and UGC, we are not against it. Without doing anything on their own Bishnupriyas are making attempt to enter the arena occupied by Manipuri by adding Manipuri as suffix or prefix. It has to be a sustained effort through which a language can develop. It is said that the matter is lying now in the apex court. The matter should be settled without delay. Bishnupriya issue keeps coming up like the hydra of evil heads of Ravana. In the meanwhile the states of Assam and Tripura should be warned against granting recognition to Bisnupriya Manipuri. If these desire they can recognize Bishnupriya language without adding Manipuri. Manipur was a princely state before its merger into the Union of India. There is the written record of, Manipuri king protecting its territory continuously for 2000 years. This simple fact alone makes it enough to smash the claim made by Bishnurpiya that they should have Manipuri. The truth should prevail and the wrong doers should be sent back to where they belonged, added to it. The state Government should urge the apex court to take up the matter without delay.
