    George W. Bush
President of the United States of America
    The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
    Washington, DC 20500

    Mr. President,

While the unforgettable memory of the September 11 still lingers in the hearts and minds of the peoples of the United States and elsewhere across the globe, yet another tragic natural calamity struck this nation resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and billions worth of properties. The brunt of hurricane Katrina is indelible; the vanishing lives are irreversible.

However, the international community's humanitarian response in the aftermath of this catastrophe does not only encompass compassion and concerns, but also embodies the emerging coherence the world has established since the end of World War II. The magnitude of this obliterating force is devastating, nonetheless; the sympathy endowed is no less significant.

Today, the Kukis, especially living under the repressive military regime of Burma, have to live with harrowing ordeals both covertly and overtly. With the unrelenting suffering we have had in our own land, we unambiguously and unequivocally understand how heart-wrenching it is for the people of this country to endure the ravage.

Joining the chorus of governments and organizations around the world, the Kuki International Forum (KIF), a platform for the Kuki people of Bangladesh, Burma and India origins, extend our prayers and condolence to the victimized families. We are looking forward to your continued and steadfast leadership for this nation and for the hapless and endangered societies of the world.

    In solidarity,

    Nehginpao
