Report of Lucky

A crime happened to a Transgender called Lucky from Thinungei- Bishnupur district. The case was first brought up to Maruploi foundation on Monday 25th February 2013. Later, Maruploi foundation reported it to AMANA on Monday 25th February 2013 at 1.30 pm. Sanamacha, Ranjit and Santa khurai had coordinated through phone call and cooperated for the concern issue. We went down to Maruploi foundation- Bishnupur and had reached there at 11.50am from Maruplo further we went down to Ningthoukhong where Lucky work as an assistant in a parlour.

When we reached their nobody was there we call them up and clued-up that they were in close proximity. Abruptly, they appeared then we were dub at the parlour and conversed with them. On that time we saw Lucky covered his face with a black mask and he was told to reveal the true story of the incident. He stated that when he went for a groom at Naran sena- Bishnupur he was informed that his friend had an accident at Phubala. So he stop at PHUBALA and met the friend while they were talking, two ladies suddenly call out his friend and spoke to him. Afterward his friend told him that the two ladies investigated about Lucky, questioning on Lucky’s home address and his details. They even asked if Lucky was from Moirang but the ladies were given the true details of Lucky and even her permanent address.

Without further attention on the matter he catches an Auto for Naran sena- the groom place. When he get in the Auto the two ladies too get in the same Auto and three of them were travelling in the same Auto. They never spoke while travelling however the ladies were busy with their mobile. Lucky had reached his closing area and when he gets down from the Auto the two ladies were also follows.

Subsequently, he goes on to a hotel nearby to get some eatable there he found two men sitting and stared at him. Lucky had no attention on them and sat at the bench ordering for Tea and Bora. Unexpectedly the men move towards Lucky and started asking unrelated questions beside he was compelled and accused of a TG name Jimmy from Moirang. Who had been eloped with their father and took out the monthly salary of two month. Lucky openly described his true individuality but the men were not pay attention to Lucky’s responses. Instead he was given punch on the face and continue thumping till he was battered and bleeding. Local peoples there were trying to stop them but it was of no use.

At last the men dragged Lucky at their vehicle but the local peoples forcedly snatches him from them. When the problem was settled he call up with Aniket his parlour’s owner to pick up. Aniket have arrived the place at 6.30pm and found Lucky badly wounded. They had discussion for the whole night at their parlour to facilitate what step to be taken up and what can be done for justice? They informed to their parent and when hearing the account Lucky’s father got tremendously astonish and fiery. He obtained the clear details of the reprobate after he was prepared to go for reprisal. When Aniket acknowledged the father’s consideration he stopped him and aware him the TG community supports groups that existing in Manipur. As Sunday was holiday they reported to Maruploi on Monday the 25th February 2013 later Maruploi deals with AMANA for further arrangement.

Subsequently, Sana, Santa and Ranjit had contacted through phone and organized to go down at Bishnupur. First we visited at Aniket parlour and deliberated the different possible ways to approach for justice. We had set on a series of planned, initially we met Lucky’s parent and conversed with them and they were also approved our suggestion.

Without any delay Santa spoke with Savana, Program Officer-ASLP-NE and took her help and suggestion of accessing legal help. She attentively listened to the story and gave suggestion to meet an advocate name Kishorejit who work in Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) as a para legal volunteers. Santa call up with Kishorejit on 26th and inquired about all the necessary demonstrable document of the case. Per suggestions given was informed to Lucky and advice him to appear at Cheirap court on 27th February 2013 at 11.30am. He was told to bring the doctor’s prescription which would be supportive for the case.

On 27th Santa had telephonic contact with Lucky and Ranjit-Secretary, Maruploi foundation to make out an area where they can come together. Lucky had reached Imphal at 12.30 am and call up Santa and told her the area where he stopped. Santa acquainted with Ranjit the meeting area, within 30 minutes both of the three met and gathered at the gate of Bir Tikendrajit Park-Imphal. From there they started toddle for MSLSA and reached there at 1.30 pm. Following they congregate with Kishorejit and the advocate told Lucky to tell the story of the incident.

In between the story Lucky was asking many questions by the advocate. Once the story was finished the advocate reassure compensation from the perpetrator and prepared the summon letter with a date fixed on 11th March 2013. The notice letter was brought and Santa drops it to Imphal head post office-Babupara on 28th February 2013 at 11.30 am. Since then we have been looking for the responses to come.

On 11th March 2013, Lucky and his parents along with AMANA members went to MSLSA for summon. We were waiting for the opposed party till 2.45 pm whereas the timeline given for summon was 1.30 pm. They came belatedly and the case was started at 2.50 pm. One of the para legal volunteer calls the both sides inside the court room. After 1/2 an hour’s the member secretary call Lucky’s father alone and spoke with him. From him we were informed that what they want from the accused? His father consults with us for the better option to be demanded.

Ahead of the final resolution the member secretary again call Santa khurai in his room and had asked over what AMANA wish for. Inside the room Santa stated to the perpetrator that what he did to Lucky was tremendously wrong and awful. After look at the preference of the both sides, Member Secretary had drafted the order with fine of Rs.5000 as compensation to endorse Lucky’s medical treatment.

The perpetrator had surrendered to Lucky and said sorry in front of everyone and uttered that what he did to Lucky was of mistaken identity. Thus the case was brought amicable solution and disposed. Within few days the drafted order shall be devolve to AMANA as well as a copy to Savana, Program Officer, ASLP-SAATHII.
