Imphal, July 31: Demanding punishment to those commando personnel involved in the killing of Meinam Somen and Haorokcham Somendro and also release of the three arrested JAC members, a protest sitting was staged at Ningthoukhong today.

During the protest sitting organised under the aegis of Bishnupur District Meira Paibi Apunba Lup and CADA Bishnupur district, the protesters raised various slogans as "Punish those involved in killing Somen and Somendro", "Repeal AFSPA from Manipur", "Respect human rights", "Protect civilians", "Somen and Somendro were innocent civilians", "Release arrested JAC members" etc.

The protest demonstration was also attended by Meira Paibis and women vendors of Ningthoukhong Bazar.

Meinam Somen of Bishnupur ward no 6 and Haorokcham Somendro of ward no 8 were shot dead by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry on July 15 .
