Imphal, November 19: The State Government is taking no chance of any possible outbreak of bird flu in the wake of migratory birds swarming the State.

As a part of its sustained campaign to prevent any collateral damage by the possible outbreak of bird flu, the State Forest Department today conducted verification of migratory birds spotted in the wetlands along the Mayai Lambi Road.

The team, consisting of Deputy Chief Conservator of Forest (park & sanctuary), Mohendro, Keibul Lamjao Range officers, District Forest Officer, Thoubal and a veterinary doctor, appraised the local people about the deadly disease and further instructed not to kill or trap any migratory birds.

The team surveyed and studied the habitat behaviour of birds at Phiral Pung, Mayang Imphal and Khoidum Lamjao.
