Lamka, May 07 2010: Perturbed by the incident at Mao gate yesterday, the Zomi Human Rights Foundation today said whereas southern Manipur is celebrating its gospel centenary year its tribal counterparts in the north is passing through the darkest moment in Manipur's history.

Claiming that it is deeply concerned with any form of human rights violation, the rights' body as always called for immediate restoration of peace and tranquility in all parts of the state.

It also accuse the Government of utilizing the elite police commandos who were created for counter insurgency operations along with their sophisticated weapons to tame any rally in the state rather than the normal police or RAPs who are equipped with appropriate tolls.

The result of this exercise is excesses and the Mao Gate incident is one such example, it said.
