Tight security steps taken up

Imphal, March 19: Extensive security measures have been put in place by State Government for non-Manipuris in four valley districts following the killings spree of non-locals in the past three days.

Arrangements have been made for the non-locals residing at the twin districts of Imphal East and Imphal West to stay together at Dharamshala of Thangal Bazar and various Police stations.

Security has also been beefed up around Khurai Tellipati area, where non-Manipuri population is concentrated.

In Thoubal district, security protection has been given at Wangbal IRB post, Kakching and Yairipok Police stations.

Non-locals are also staying together at Bishnupur DC Complex, Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Sagang AR post and Nambol Police station in Bishnupur district.

Meanwhile, Manipur contingent for 12th East Zone Handball Championship, to be held at Kolkata from March 21 returned home today from Dimapur due to prevailing situation.
