Dimapur, May 31 2010: A 72-hour bandh will come into effect from 5 a.m.Monday Dimapur police sources said Sunday.

Further, DC Dimapur Maongwati Aier confirmed the report, quoting his Karbi Anglong counterpart at Diphu.

Maong said the bandh was called basically by three groups Karbi Anglong-based organization.

Though the reasons for the bandh was not known, those in Nagaland perceived it as enforcement of the threat of economic blockade on Nagaland by 12 Karbi Anglong-based organizations belonging to various tribes and communities, spearheaded by the All Assam Manipur Students Union, Assam.

The organizations had issued a 100-hour ultimatum on the NSF to lift the ongoing economic blockage on Manipur at the NH 39 and 53 on Wednesday.
