Imphal, May 29 2010: An independent candidate namely G Apoukhui has announced 'political retirement' and as such would not be contesting the forthcoming Autonomous District council election from Rengpang ADC constituency.

In his missive to the Returning Officer of nungba Sub Division, Apoukhui said for the 'welfare of the Naga society' he decided to pull out from the democratic exercise.

Meanwhile, one doukhi Reamei of Azuram village has conveyed gratitude to authorities of 11 Assam Rifles posted at Azuram for arranging transportation of his ailing mother to the district hospital.
