Imphal, May 18, 2010: As Paothing, INC candidate in 21 Shingkap ADC seat under Phungyar Assembly constituency for the second phase of ADC polls scheduled to be held on June 2 submitted his withdrawal application to the UNC president rather than election RO, said an individual who has also withdrawn his candidature.

Except for seven INC candidates as against eight ADC seats available in Phungyar A/C, all other candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.

AS Paothing's intimation to the UNC president that his withdrawal was nothing but duping both the Government and the people.

According to the rules of the Election Commission, no candidate can withdraw his or her candidature once the specified date of withdrawal lapses, he added.
