Imphal, July 21: MP and general secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Gurudas Dasgupta has urged the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to take up action immediately to end the ongoing economic blockade being called by ANSAM along the National Highways passing through Manipur.

At the behest of Manipur State Committee of AITUC, Gurudas apprised the Home Minister with the prevailing situation of Manipur and the problems being faced by the people as a result of the ANSAM-sponsored indefinite economic blockade along National Highways 39 and 53 since the midnight of June 19 against declaration of June 18 as State Integrity day by the State Government.

In his letter to the Home Minister, Gurudas observed that the blockade by ANSAM has resulted in deep distress and holding up traffic causing serious difficulties and inconveniences.
