Imphal, August 04 2009: Leader of the Military Defence Force, a breakaway group of the KYKL, S/S captain S Rishikanta of Sawombung Thongkhong was shot and critically injured when unidentified gunmen fired at him today at about 2.30 pm at Hundung in Ukhrul district.

Rishikanta was first taken to a private clinic by the villagers but as his condition was serious he was brought to JN Hospital, from where he was referred to RIMS today evening.

Rishikanta received a bullet wound on the left side of the chest.

The wounded cadre was traced to JN hospital by a team of Litan police today evening, said sources.
