Imphal, August 26: The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh has demanded immediate Central intervention to resolve the crisis emerging out of the economic blockade which has already caused heavy damage to the people of Manipur.

A nine-member BJP delegation led by National vice president of BJP and MP TC Gehlot met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the latter's Parliament House Office and submitted a memorandum in this connection.

The delegation urged the Prime Minister to reassure the people that the territorial integrity of Manipur would not be disturbed at any cost.

The delegation also requested the Prime Minister to make a statement in the Parliament in this regard.

The Prime Minister also assured the delegation that the territorial integrity of not only Manipur but also all other NE States will not be disturbed at all.

He further assured the delegation that the present economic blockade crisis will be dealt with seriously and all necessary measures taken to see that normal supply line does not get disturbed.

Giving these information in a statement, BJP North East Organising secretary V Satish, who was also a part of the delegation, however, charged the Government of Manipur headed by O Ibobi Singh and the UPA Government at the Centre of failing miserably to handle the crisis effectively.

The people of Manipur have suffered a lot in the past and dark days are ahead, he observed.

A copy of the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister and made available to the press today, maintained that in the backdrop of the recent 52-day long economic blockade and other subsequent events, the people of Manipur have again become little apprehensive on the issue of territorial integrity.

Highlighting on other alleged failure of the State Government, the memorandum emphatically stated that there is total breakdown of the law and order situation in Manipur.
