Imphal, March 18: Inspite of keen desire to uphold the interest of the peasant and chalk out programmes for their benefits being a part of the Congress led Secular Progressive Front Government has constricted aspiration of the Communist Party of India to some extent, said IFC Minister N Mangi.

Speaking as the special invitee at the inaugural function of the two day 27th State Conference of Manipur Loumi Lup at Langmeidong Dramatic Union premise today the Minister, however hastened to add that due to necessity to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur the CPI had to join hands with the Congress party for governance.

The CPI has its own manifesto and desires to take up welfare programmes for the State farmers but to adhere to coalition principal the party could not execute all its plan visualized for the peasants, he regretted while lamenting that due to onslaught of wave of liberalization, privatization and globalization toil in the field and earning do not match.

Unlike in the past wherein the farmers could fully reap fruits of their hardwork influx of multi-national companies to Manipur and increasing dependence on machines in the agriculture sector has drastically reduced returns of the farmers, Mangi observed adding such trend has curtailed employment opportunities of youths.

Subsequently work culture has diminished and efforts to obtain loan from Government preoccupied the minds of the youths who seldom repays the loan thereby adding burden of the State Government, he highlighted.

The Minister also regretted that instead of clearing electricity bills the people are taking more interest in hurling charges against the Government for failure of power transformer.

He desired that people of Manipur learn from the work culture of Kakching areas who plants and harvest paddy for at least three times in a single year.
