Ukhrul, May 17 2010: The Tangkhul organisations in Ukhrul district have been irked by alleged biased reportings by Imphal based newspapers over the present Manipur impasse cropped by the NSCN-IM leader Th Muivah's proposed visit to Manipur.

The Tangkhul Action Committee (TAC), a conglomerate of Tangkhul civil society organisations served a 'warning notice' today to all the newspapers based in Imphal to give balanced reportings or else the TAC will ban the newspapers.

" It has been observed that since Muivah's visit issue brewed up, any news information/circulation and articles related with the issue has not been entertained by the Manipur valley-based newspapers.

Taking due cognizance of the biased attitude of the valley-based newspapers, the Tangkhul Action Committee agreed to serve a 'warning notice' to all newspaper firms in Manipur on May 17 .

If the firms continue to toe its biased stand, the Committee decided to ban all English dailies at Ukhrul district," the Tangkhul Action Committee said.

The Committee has also decided to organize a torch rally on May 18 from 6 pm.

The rally will converge at Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Ground after proceeding from two junction-Dungrei Junction and Kharasom Junction.

The rally is being organized against the Central Government biased attitude and the Manipur State Cabinet Decision to ban entry of Th.Muivah, Ato Kilonser, from entering his birth-place, it added.

The TAC said, preparations for Th.Muivah's 'maiden visit to Ukhrul are in full swing.

Enthusiastic denizens of Tangkhul-young and old await his maiden visit.

Traditional welcome gates at various points and intersections numbering more than 20, thousands of white flags on the roof-tops and posters await his maiden home coming," the TAC said.
