Sushma Swaraj, team coming to Imphal this week

Imphal, June 16, 2010: A team of BJP at the Centre led by opposition leader of the Lok Shaba, Sushma Swaraj is arriving at Imphal within this current week to asses the situation of Manipur arising out of prolong economic blockade on the national highways.

The team will study the problems facing by the people due to scarcity of the foods and other essential items.

A report to be compiled by the visiting team will be tabled in the house of Parliament during its next session, said president of the BJP Manipur Pradesh, Shantikumar today.

Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the state president said that the schedule for the visit of the Centre's team will be decided in a meeting of the party to be convened tomorrow at 11 am at the party office.

The schedule will be within this week, he added.

Sushama Swaraj, the leader of the opposition in the house of Lok Shaba was deputed to asses first hand stock of Manipur situation in the wake of prolong imposition of economic blockade on the two national highways 53 and 39 by the ANSAM backed by UNC by a resolution of the two day national executive meeting held on June 12 and 13 last, Shantikumar said.

In the meeting, national president, Nitin Godari asked Sushma Swaraj to take stock of the situation of the state.

It also asked state unit to finalize a convenient date for her visit and intimate to the party by tomorrow.

BJP has no MLA in the state Assembly.

However, the party took serious note of the problems and issues ahead of the people of the state.

In the national executive meeting also its leaders put up for discussion Manipur situation, the president who attended the meeting held at Patna said.

Despite having no MLA in the state Assembly, the party is very much worried of the people of the state whereas, the Congress which is heading SPF government in the state and UPA at the Centre is not taking much interest in the matter concerning with Manipur, Shantikumar criticized.

Congress is not taking up any welfare work for the people of the state.

They never efforted to solve any problems ahead of the state, he said strongly charging that Congress could not properly run governments at the Centre as well as in the state.

When no initiative was seen taken up even people of the state is receiving untold miseries owing to the more than two month long economic blockade by these two governments, he criticized.

When NH-39 was totally blocked by twin blockade, they failed to take up works for procuring essential items, he said observing that failure to solve innumerable unsolved issues ahead of the state make suffering to the people.
