AR aid to IED victim

Imphal, January 15: Troops of 26 Sector Assam Rifles extended all possible help to an IED blast victim of S Bungjoi village on January 14. The victim identified as Manglun Haokip of (50) S Bungjoi village, a hamlet lying between Old Samtal and New Samtal, was injured in the IED blast when he had gone to tend to his field on the said day.

Fortunately for the victim, the PRO of Assam Rifles, Col LM Pant, along with a media team and the escorts were heading back to Joupi when they came across the victim.

With the AR troops stationed informing the incident, the victim was transported upto to Old Samtal by the team where he was administered first aid.

From there, the 44 AR stationed at Old Samtal provided an ambulance to take the victim to Joupi.

The Sector Commander of 26 AR, Brig Raymond Noronha who was also coming back from New Samtal personally inspected the injured man at Old Samtal and issued necessary instructions.

At Joupi, the injured man was administered an expensive blood clotting drug to stop the bleeding but as he had bled heavily, he was referred to Imphal.

Brig Noronha gave Rs 5000 to the victim's kins as financial aid.

The victim and his kins who accompanied him, were given dinner at Tengnoupal and transported to Imphal in the ambulance.
