Addl forces assured at counting venues

Imphal, May 11: In connection with the complaint raised by BJP candidate Loli Adanee on alleged threat against counting of vote in some of the polling stations in the three Assembly segments of Chandel (ST), Ukhrul (ST) and Tamenglong (ST) in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies, a joint meeting attended by candidates concerned and their designated counting agents was held at the Imphal West DC Office at Lamphelpat this morning.

The meeting discussed in the problem likely to be encountered while making arrangement for shifting the venue of the vote count and finally decided that it should be held at the respective District Head-quarters as decided earlier with deployment of more security personnel if it is necessary.

Imphal West DC and Returning Officer Surchandra who presided over the meeting assured the candidates and their counting agents of additional security forces if it is required for ensuring smooth counting of vote, a DIPR release informed.

Meanwhile, another DIPR release informed that the counting for vote for Outer's Saikul (ST), Kangpokpi (ST) and Saitu (ST) Assembly segments would begin from 8 am on May 19 at the hall of the Kangpokpi ADC.

All the concerned candidates have also been asked to submit the application forms for their respective counting agents within 5 pm of May 15 at the office of ADC/ARO, Kangpokpi.

Poll results: State Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has made everything ready for providing and broad-casting the results of the Lok Sabha election for both Inner and Outer Parliamentary seats, the counting for which would held on May 13 and May 19 respectively.

The updated election results would also be announced after every one hours at various designated areas including district head-quarters where Media Centres and Results announcing booths have been set up besides displaying the results on the display board to be erected in front of the DIPR head office.
