Imphal, July 08: Police have picked up two persons and begun investigation into the abduction of two teenage boys hailing from Iroisemba area.

According to family sources, whereabouts of Yengkhom Naobi Singh (13) s/o Y Manohar Singh and Angom Langamba alias Abungo alias Bange (11) s/o (L) A Pichu Singh both residents of Iroisemba Lourembam Leikai, remained unknown since July 6 after they had gone out to play at around 3 pm.

Locals had scanned surrounding areas in search of the missing duo even using public address system.

As words spread the next day (July 7) that Naobi and Bange were last seen at near Manipur Zoological Garden along with one Sorokhaibam Gam (25) s/o (L) Gitkumar of the same locality as the missing boys, the locals apprehended the 25 year old.

As arrival of a team of Lamphel police station personnel coincided with the locals apprehending gam, the individual was handed over to the police, the family sources narrated.

On the otherhand, a police source informed that on Gam's disclosure another person identified as Thakur of Lamdeng Khunou has also been taken into police custody in connection with the missing persons' case.

Significantly some persons believed to be involved in the abduction the two established contact with the families on mobile phone yesterday morning and reportedly warned the family against informing the police or the media.

Even tough the suspected captors asked the families to ring up at evening the same day the phone remained in switch off mode.

Confirming the case, Lamphel police station has appealed to the general public to report any information about the two boys at a nearest police station.

Naobi is said to be of medium built, with whitish complexion, about 4.3 feet in height and attired in red coloured T-shirt, grey longpants and wore Moreh chappal.

Langamba's complexion is said to be similar to that of Naobi, about 4 feet tall, and wore black & white mixed T-shirt, blue longpants and sandal.
