Imphal, October 07: The Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has strongly condemned the violent act of vandalism in which vehicles belonging to MU teachers and resource persons coming for delivering lectures inside the university campus were damaged by agitators during the general strike called by ATSUM and MUTSU yesterday.

A press release issued by MUTA while observing that the agitating students and all other bodies supporting their demands have every right to launch their movement in a democratic way, asserted that they should pursue their demand with the authority concerned without affecting the academic programme of the University.

It decried that the destruction of window panes of classrooms, library and wind screens and window panes of vehicles belonging to teachers was quite unexpected of the students studying in the University.

MUTA further appealed to all concerned not to disturb academic functioning of the University during such bandhs and general strikes in the academic interest of the students.
