Five political parties oppose Muivah's visit

Imphal, May 07 2010: Joining the band wagon of opposing the proposed visit of Thuingaleng Muivah, the general secretary of NSCN to Manipur, five political parties in the state including NCP, CPI-(M), RSP, Forward Block and Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP), a regional party resolved to oppose the proposed visit of the top NSCN leader.

Addressing during a joint press meet, leaders of the political parties in the state echoes same opinions to opposed Th.Muivah's visit to Manipur and took note of the six Naga MLAs who tender resignations.

Union Home minister of India , P.Chintabaram should resign on moral ground for bringing tense situation in Manipur, said Dr.Nimaichand Luwang, president of MPP.

He informed this to media persons during the joint meeting called by the MPP, NCP and CPI-(M) after meeting with the Manipur Governor, Gurbachan Jagat.

The president of MPP contended that Central government should intervene immediately to stop Muivah's scheduled visit to Manipur.

He said that if the Union government could not initiate it, the state will demand to include Manipur in the Indo-Naga peace talk.

Radhabinod Koijam, president of NCP Manipur state and former chief minister of Manipur told the media that the five political parties of the state condemned the Union Home Ministry decision to allow Th.Muivah's visit to the state.

While appealing different communities of the state to remain calm, Koijam urged Prime Minister's immediate intervention to bring back normalcy in Manipur, adding the entire untoward incidents related to the present situation should be held responsible by the Centre government.

.OJoy of MPP and opposition leader opined that Union government might be having two reasons to allow Muivah to Manipur which are either Central government is not aware of the ground reality of the state or trying to use 'Divide and rule' policy.

He ridiculed the six MLAs who tendered resignation, saying 'they support the one who try to break the integrity of Manipur', adding 'if you are in Manipur then be a state MLA'.

All the political parties will give solidarity to the government of Manipur in regard to stop Th.Muivah from entering Manipur, said the MPP leader.

O Joy said that whatever untoward incident occurs in the process should be fix to the Government of India (GOI) .
