Imphal, June 05: Expressing serious concern over the escalating incident of fratricidal killings and heighten communal feeling among the different groups of people living in Manipur, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has categorically observed that this trend does not auger well for the well-being of the society apart from delaying the pace of development.

Citing the recent incident of killing one person and injuring two others besides beating up many others over ownership dispute of a farm in Langol Laimanai, AMUCO noted that the value of the land in question could never surpass the resultant loss of human life and feeling of enmity among the people.

AMUCO does not feel that use of arms to settle such petty dispute was reasonable.

It would been better for the society, if the arms have been used against the enemies toward achieving the goal of a new Manipuri society publicity secretary of AMUCO Tompok Likmabam said in a statement.

The parties concerned should leave aside the question of gain or loss in the matter and work together for the betterment of the society, the statement added.

As to the ongoing communal tension between the Kukis and the Meiteis at Moreh town, AMUCO cautioned that it might give an opportunities to the enemies to take advantage of the situation.

It has also been long since that the Imphal-Moreh route has been misused in the political interest of a few groups of people.

So it is high time for all concerned to understand the situation and start living in peace and unity.

Past experiments have taught us that the security forces always take on one side to take advantage of the situation when there is conflict between any two parties.

This not just an isolated case of Moreh, but of the whole North east region, AMUCO observed.

While the people are reeling under the impact of State sponsored terrorism, they themselves should encourage it, the statement added.
