Imphal, July 25: Close on the heels of Assam based student organisations joining numerous bodies appealing to Ansam to call off the current economic blockade the Central Committee of All Dimasa Students' union (Haflong) has called upon all concerned to refrain from activities that could complicate the situation.

It also contended that since the blockade is being imposed on the National Highways the Central Government should take strong initiative to end the impasse while asking Ansam to exempt essential service from the purview of the agitation on humanitarian ground.

Referring to NSF joining the current agitation the Union president in a statement wondered how would Nagaland-based NGOs react when similar restrictions are imposed on goods bound for Nagaland and prevailed upon parties concerned to settle the dispute through democratic manner to prevent escalation of tension in the region.

adding a sentimental note of the ongoing crisis united Progressive Front (Hojai) prevailed upon Ansam to call off the blockade as such an agitation is against the principle of love and brotherhood among the hill and valley people advocated by the forefathers.

It also called upon political leaders and organisation to shed narrow polity and work for strengthening the age-old bond and communal amity.

Meanwhile, appreciating the positive response of ANSAM to State Govt's proposal for talks on the blockade issue, All Manipur Christian Organisation desired that negotiations be held without further delay.

An emergency meeting of AMCO convened at MBC Conference hall under the chairmanship of Rev Fr Joseph Mattam held in-depth the present issue and sufferings and hardships faced by the hill and valley people of Manipur owing to the economic blockade.
