ANSAM demands explanations

Imphal, August 24: The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has demanded an explanation from the State Government for allegedly shying away from the proposed meeting between the Chief Minister and representatives of ANSAM at New Delhi on August 18.The meeting was scheduled to be held on August 18 at New Delhi ahead of the second round of talk between the Government of Manipur and ANSAM but it did not materialise, spokesman of the student body Ngachonmi Chamroy informed The Sangai Express today.

Speaking on the phone, Chamroy demanded an explanation from the side of the Manipur Government in this regard before the next round of talks begin.

As per an agreement, the delegates who would be going to Delhi have not only been finalised, but discussion was also held for withdrawing all the cases filed against ANSAM.

Besides, the Government has also given its assurance of doing the needful.

After the proposed meeting at New Delhi which did not materialise, the Manipur Govt has not yet sent any invitation to continue the talk, Chamroy informed.

The spokesman further warned that ANSAM may resume its indefinite economic blockade anytime if the Manipur Govt remains non-committal to the assurances given.
