Imphal, July 20: With the anxiety and chaotic scenes increasing with each passing day due to shortage of essential commodities in the backdrop of indefinite economic blockade launched by ANSAM several civil bodies continued to appeal for lifting the blockade without further delay.

Appealing to all concerned to refrain from any activity or comments that could complicate the present situation BJP Tamenglong District Committee desired that organisations concerned abstain from politicising or add communal tone to crisis.

Lack of sincerity and integrity of the SPF Government is responsible for creating numerous problems, charged the BJP unit while observing that people of the State need to fight democratically against the authority in power to solve the problems.

The BJP also demanded that President's rule be promulgated in Manipur considering all round failure of State Government machinery.

Terming the ongoing agitation as undemocratic as it had not only caused great inconveniences to the general public, but had prompted question of whether ANSAM's objective is to cut off the food chain, expressed All Manipur College Teachers' Association.

Drawing ANSAM's attention of students directly effected by the current agitation with the cessation of transport service caused by fuel shortage the teachers' body expressed concern that academic atmosphere is likely to severely hit if the agitation persist.

Holding the people at ransom in pursuit of a particular agenda is unethical and ANSAM should reconsider its decision in the interest of the common public whose conditions are getting murkier due to shortage of essential commodities including life-saving drugs, said the Association while urging both the Government and the ANSAM leaders to chalk up means for solving the impasse.

The Association also desired that State authorities pull up traders hiking prices of goods and clamp down upon black marketers involved in fuel adulteration and sale of the same item at exorbitant rate.
