Congmen stage sit-in-protest

Imphal, May 19: Members of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee today staged a sit in protest in front of the Congress Bhavan as a mark of protest against the BJP and its allies' strong opposition to any attempt to appoint Sonia Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India on account of her foreign origin.

The sit in protest which began around 3 n the afternoon ended at around 5.30 was participated by members of NSUI Manipur, Youth congress, Mahila Congress and Congress cell and Department.

Demanding an explanation from the BJP authorities on why no questions were raised when LK Advani was appointed as the Deputy PM in the BJP led NDA Govt inspite of being born in Pakistan, gen secy of Manipur Pradesh Committee Administration Bidyabati Senjam asserted that the decision of the BJP and its allies are irrational and defies logic.

The decision of the BJP and her allies to oppose Sonia Gandhi from becoming the PM has put to shame the whole nation in front of the other countries of the world who looked up to India, added Bidyabati.

Making a scathing attack at the BJP, Youth Congress president Tilotama questioned why the BJP leaders who had talked a lot about women's empowerment during its rule had suddenly made a turn around when a woman leader is on the verge of becoming the PM of India.

She also said that Sushma Swaraj strong opposition to the Prime Ministership of Sonia Gandhi should be taken as anti women and should be condemned by all the women of the country.
