Eleven election observers arrive

Imphal, January 19: Eleven election observers arrived here today to oversee the Assembly elections.

Twelve more observers will be arriving tomorrow, said sources from the Election office.

A total of 31 observers will be pressed into service in the election.

Of this 19 are general observers while 12 are expenditure observers.

Four observers will be deputed at Imphal West, five at Imphal East, three at Bishnupur, four at Thoubal, three at Chandel, three at Ukhrul, three at Senapati, three at Tamenglong and three at Churachandpur.

As the vehicles available for the observers are not adequate, Government departments have been instructed to send the required vehicles.

A meeting of top police, CRPF, BSF and army officials presided by Governor Ved Marwah held at the Raj Bhavan today reviewed the security situation of the State prior to the State elections.
