Imphal, June 18: Despite the State Govt.declaring June 18 as a State holiday to honour the 18 martyrs, all the offices in Ukhrul district remain opened today carrying on their normal works.

When this correspondent contacted all the Heads of the Dept (HoD) of the district, the officers said that despite the directive from the Deputy Commissioner to all the departments in the district Hqs to remain closed the offices remained open since many important works were to be taken up with even the DC office throbbing with activities.

However, the DC was found absent at his office.

When contacted at his official residence, the DC said that he would not be meeting the mediapersons for the next 3/4 days and declined to give any comment.

The State Govt has declared June 18 as a State holiday.
