Imphal, November 10: Leaving behind the warm comfort of their class rooms and braving the cold wintry breeze many students took out rallies and held sit-in-protests at different parts of the State today condemning the kidnapping of Luningla Elizabeth, by unidentified persons.

It is the sixth day today since 8-year old Luningla Elizabeth, a class III student of Little Flower School and daughter of GAD Minister Francis Ngajokpa had been kidnapped.

So far no Organization/person has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping nor police have been able to trace the whereabouts of the kidnapped child.

Thousands of students studying in various schools of Imphal took out a mass rally under the aegis of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) at Imphal today in condemnation of the kidnapping.

The students carried placards and festoons denouncing the deeds of the unknown kidnappers.

They also shouted slogans demanding safe release of Lungnila immediately and unconditionally.

The seemingly endless chain of agitating students passed through Khwairamband bazar.

They were, however, not allowed by the police to pass in front of Raj Bhavan and Chief Minister's bungalow.

Other places where rally and human chain were held under the called of AMSU were Porompat, Khurai, Chingmeirong, Uripok and Sagolband.

A large number of students of Little Flower School who started a protest rally from the school compound to join with other rallyists at Khwairamband bazar were also reportedly herded back from Kwakeithel bazar by the police.

All the shops along Wahengbam Leikai and Keishampat road here also downed their shutters showing solidarity to the demand for safe release of Lungnila.

At Moirang, around 2000 students took part in a similar protest rally organized by AMSU Bishnupur District Committee today.

Local meira paibis along with the students of Elite Public School, Hill Valley Mission School, LCM High School, Thoibi Quality English School, Advanced Intermediate College, St Xavier English School and Little Bird High School took out the rally from near Ngangkhalawai Electricity to Moirang Lamkhai after passing through Moirang Bazar.

The rallyists shouted slogans condemning kidnapping and demanding release of Lungnila.

Sit-in-protest demonstrations condemnation as well as demanding the safe release of Lungnila were also held today at various places.

All business establishments and educational institutions at Kakching bazar, one of the major commercial hubs of Thoubal district, remained closed today as thousands of students of different educational institutions and traders of the area staged a sit-in-protest demonstration at Kakching bazar under the banner of �Don't play with innocent soul�.

Apart from volunteers of local clubs, Organization, public leaders, womenfolk, students and staff of PR English School, Victory High School, Kakching Higher Secondary School, Martin Grammar School, National Academy, Kakching Public School, Ibemhal Gyan Niketan, Kakching Wairi High School, Kakching Girls High School, Kakching Public School and Southern English School took part in the demonstration which commenced from 10 am and continue till 2 pm.

The sit-in-protest was held under the joint aegis of Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association and Whiz Kids' Society.

Students of educational institutions along Mayai Lambi and Tiddim line including ANK English Academy, Langmei-dong, H Keinahal Memorial English School, Langmeidong, Langmeidong Junior High Sch-ool, Elang Khangpokpi Junior High School, Eureka English Academy, Thounaujam, Elang Keina Girls' Junior School, Recent Higher Secondary School, Sagoltongba; Brighter English Academy, Oinam, St John English School, Nambol Chingmang and Utlou Govt Model High School today staged sit-in-protest demonstration in font of their respective school gate demanding release of Lungnila.

At Langmeidong, staffers of Kakching CD Block and Panchayat representatives also demonstrated for the same cause.

A similar mass sit-in-protest demonstration was also held at Japhou bazar in Chandel district headquarters today under the joint aegis of students and teachers of the District headquarters from 10 am to 2 pm today.

Around 1200 students of Oriental Academy, Japhou bazar, St Peter School, Monsang Pantha, St Peter School, Japhou Bazar, Emmanuel School, Japhou Bazar, Koinonia Training School and Institute, Chandel and TMT School, Chandel took part in the demonstration.

The demonstrators, while appealing for such incident of kidnapping which might spoil the careers of students is not repeated in future also demanded safe and sound and unconditional release of the kidnapped girl immediately.

At Thoubal Dist HQs, besides staging dharnas by schools and college students, AMSU Thoubal Branch in collaboration with the womenfolks also reportedly conducted search operation at various places of the district to trace the whereabouts of the kidnapped child.

Students of Imphal Morning High School, St John's English School, St Anthony high School Chingmeirong, Covenant English School New Checkon Nongpok Ingkhol, Goshen English School, Brajalal Institute of Science Moirangkhom and RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya North AOC and the staff of Treasury Employees Assn have also organized sit-in-protest today.
