Imphal, October 10 2009: Raphei Katamnao Long (Raphei Students' Union), RKL, has strongly refuted the claim of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh that no rest houses have been constructed by Nagaland Government in Jessami.

In a statement, president of the student body Tennoson Pheirei said the immature and concocted remarks of the Chief Minister has once again hurt the sentiments of the villagers of Jessami in particular and the people of the region in general.

The rest house structure is still standing tall near the Akash bridge at Jessami, Tennoson said, while imploring the CM to personally pay a spot visit for verification since the structure would not simply vanish into thin air as well as for setting the record straight.

The Nagaland Govt has constructed the rest house in question under the Integrated Wasteland Development Programme (IWDP), the student body informed.

Since Jessami is situated in a strategic geographical location bordering Nagaland State and Myanmar, RKL has been demanding immediate upgradation of the existing yet not-functional SDC post to SDO post, Tennoson said.

The student body has also called for sincere intervention of the SPF Government in addressing the problems faced by the villagers and fulfilling the wishes of the people.
