Imphal, February 06: In connection with the first phase of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly election scheduled to be held on February 8, prohibitory order under Section 144 Cr PC, 1973 has been promulgated in and around all the school building/ buildings located within the Assembly segments of 47-Karong (ST), 48-Mao (ST) AC and 49-Tadubi (ST) AC of Senapati district which are engaged for the purpose of polling stations.

The order would come into effect from 6 am of February 8 till the election process is completely over, according to an order issued by the District magistrate of Senapati district.

The order prohibits movement of any person or persons, unlawful assembly of four or more persons, carrying of lethal weapons, fire arms of any other descrip tions or objects which can be used as weapons.

However, it would not apply to security personnel deployed in the enforcement of law and order and maintenance of essential services and officials who are engaged as polling personnel in the conduct of the election, media persons and voters peacefully coming out to exercise their franchise.
