Imphal, September 05: Indecision over whether services of the CBI would be roped in to investigate into the controversial omission of Laishram Monika Devi from the Beijing Olympics has been cited as the main reason for keeping under wraps report of the former Chief Election Commissioner TS Krishnamurthy who has completed a probe on the issue.

Disclosing this to newspersons today Sports Minister N Biren said Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had a telephonic conversation with the Union Sports Minister MS Gill with the latter reportedly clarifying that uncertainty on whether the case would be entrusted to the CBI had been constraining the union Ministry from making public findings of the former CEC.

Further quoting the Chief Minister as saying that MS Gill has been urged to hand over the case to the CBI, N Biren also said report of the one-man enquiry on the matter had already been placed before the Union Minister.

Regarding media reports of L Monika being left out from the probable list of weightlifters for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, the Sports Minister pointed out that there is no definite decision on non-selection of Monika for the 2010 Games as a final list is yet to be prepared/announced.

He also speculated that the said list might be of probables for the Youth Commonwealth Games beginning from October 12 at Pune.

Biren also informed that he called on the President of Indian Weightlifting Federation who reportedly clarified that preparation for final selection of weightlifters is still underway and there is no question why Monika should not make it to the Indian weightlifting squad for the Commonwealth Games.
