22 candidates collect nomination papers in Tamenglong

Imphal, May 04 2010: Amidst the strong opposing to hold elections to the member of District Council election at least 22 candidates have collected the nomination forms today but none so far file nominations.

In all 22 candidates, nine candidates are from Tamenglong segment, nine are from Nungba segment, and four candidates are from Tousem segment had obtained nomination papers for candidatures today.

However none from Tamei segment turned up to obtain form.

Tamenglong segment has seven ADC constituencies with 38 polling stations with 26587 voters, Tamei segment has five constituencies with 27 polling stations and 14853 voters, in Tousem segment has four constituencies with 35 polling station and 16177 voters and in Nungba segment seven constituencies with 36 polling stations and 19922 voters.

In the meantime, the Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong Sumant Singh IAS today made a surprised inspection in the Mini Secretariat office where all the staffs were found to have absent from their duty.

The DC, with serious viewed with the absentee has served show cause notice returnable reply in writing or by appearing in person before May 7, official source informed.

Meanwhile, our staff reporter added that Trinamool Congress, which fielded 16 candidates in the first phase, has decided to field party candidates in the second phase too.

Speaking at a press conference, chairman of the party, RK Dorendro said that despite is old age he has still the gut and willing to serve the people considering the suffering facing by the people of the state.
