Imphal, January 04: MPP president O Joy today predicted that no single political will get absolute majority in the forthcoming election and added that the State is headed for a coalition Government.

With equal intensity he added that no coalition Government will be able to survive without the support of the MPP.

Speaking to newsmen at the MPP office this evening O Joy said that his party do not particularly welcome the election.

However as a regional party committed to the principles of democracy the MPP will fully participate in the poll process, he added.

The MPP will not go along with any political parties that are against preserving the territorial integrity of the State and will also keep at arms length all political figures who are tainted by corruption charges, said the MPP chief.

O Joy further said that during the last few years democratic forces have been hijacked by undemocratic organizations.

The constant party hopping indulged in by some political figures against all democratic norms have galvanized public opinion against the State political figures, he said.

The public no longer trust the politicians.

It is the duty of the PR Government to pressurize the Centre to better the acute financial condition, improve the law arid order situation and tone up the administration, said Joy.

The Centre should be approached to grant 'a one time' special package to bail the State out, said the MPP president.

Even if the MPP do not nominate candidates in all the constituencies in the forthcoming election, the party will surely field a good number of candidates, he said.

The MPP is also open to any pre-poll alliance with like minded political parties.
