Imphal, August 31 2009: Asserting that MLAs and Ministers have been paying more attention to development of roads, dredging of drains and distribution of pump sets etc instead of paying any attention to the immediate issue surrounding the BT Road fake encounter, the JAC Against the Killing of Ch Sanjit has called upon the people to abort all such functions attended by MLAs and Ministers.

In a statement, the JAC questioned the purpose of developing infrastructure when people are being killed at will.

It also denounced the Government's act of sending summons to the relatives and local friends of late Sanjit.

Due to extreme torture by police during interrogation, Ng Amumacha s/o Ngairangbam Bira of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai has been undergoing treatment in th psychiatric ward of RIMS.

He is now in an abnormal condition, even unable to recognise his parents, said the JAC quoting Amumacha's mother.

Citing such cases like Prakash of Langthabal who sustained grievous injuries on the eye due to police firing, the JAC maintained that such harsh and brutal measures would not be able to suppress the people's movement.

Asking O Ibobi how many lives would be needed to exchange with his seat, the JAC demanded immediate resignation of Ibobi.

In accordance to a resolution adopted at a meeting yesterday, more members would be inducted into the JAC so as to sustain and intensify the ongoing movement, it conveyed.
