JD(U) promises people power

Imphal, January 30: The election manifesto of the Janata Dal (United) which was released by party vice president Md Abdul Wahid at the party office today promises to uphold people's power instead of money power and install a corruption free Government in the State.

Vowing to keep the State territory intact, the manifesto said it will uphold brotherhood, social harmony and cultural identity of ethnic groups if it is given the chance to govern.

It said the party will work for bettering the economic condition of Manipur by seeking foreign investment and utilizing natural resources properly and take up new road projects in both hill and valley.

Promising to speed up the process of quality education, the party said it will work for making Manipur an international trade centre by regulating and enhancing the existing trade between the State and south east Asian countries.

The JD (U) will initiate and conduct pre-examination coaching centres to prepare the youths for recruitment to Central and State Government posts and provide better opportunities for technical education.

JDU will emphasize on taking up innovative farming technologies, look into the medical and electricity sectors.

More primary health centres will be set up and the co-operative movement will be strengthened and more power will be given to the local bodies, the manifesto said.

Promising lo increase the quantum of providing housing loans, the party said it will try to free Manipur from the yoke of HIV/AIDS.
