Imphal, August 29: In connection with the missing case of a class VIII student, a protest sitting was staged at Kyamgei Leikai by local Meira Paibis today.

Aheibam Devkanta, a student reading in class VIII at Imphal Public School located near Manipur University first gate went missing since yesterday.

He was going to school to appear for the school exam before he went missing.

At the venue of the protest demonstration staged against recruitment of child soldiers, placards which read as "Save Children, Save Manipur", "Please hand over Aheibam Devkanta to his parents safely", "Stop child trafficking for money" etc.

In connection with the missing case of Devkanta, 32 Assam Rifles of Canchipur post took statements of five children of whom three are reading in Imphal Public School, one in Standard Robarth English School and two in Kyamgei Ideal High School.

The AR troops picked up class VIII students of Imphal Public School��Thiyam Rajesh, Bernard Shaw and Nongmeikappam Bidyasagar in school uniform from their homes, said family members.

The student reading in Standard Robarth English School is identified as Nepram Pritam (class VI) while the student reading in Kyamgei Ideal High School picked up AR troops for taking statements was Maibam James (class VII).
