Campaign for child rights

Imphal, July 28: To create awareness among parents of children, community leaders, club volunteers and Meira Paibis about the rights due to children, the Special Child Protection Alliance Force will be launching an extensive campaign in the State.

The awareness campaign will focus on child trafficking, using children as labourer, denying education to children, Government policies on child health, education and food security.

Speaking to media persons in this regard at Manipur Press Club today, executive member of All Manipur NGOs Forum, Imphal Kh Chinglen asserted that the children in Manipur are being denied most of the fundamental rights entitled to them.

Under the circumstances, it is necessary for the general public, parents, Meira Paibis and club volunteers to know about the rights entitled to children and possible remedial measures that could be taken when a child a denied is his/her due rights, Chinglen said.

Specifically for this campaign, the All Manipur NGOs Forum has set up the Child Protection Alliance Force.

The Alliance would go together with security forces, legal authorities, voluntary organisations, NGOs, youth clubs, Meira Paibis, Panchayats, village authorities and religious authorities, he added.
