Imphal, January 28: The Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) today released its election manifesto in which the party stresses on greater autonomy for States and promises a corruption free Government by passing the Lok Ayukta Act which aims at checking corruption in high places.

Releasing the manifesto, MPP president O Joy Singh said his party keeps utmost importance to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the State while working to maintain communal harmony in the region.

He appealed to the electorates to elect only true leaders of the masses.

Rejecting the claim that the ceasefire extension came as the MLAs failed to perform their duties, he said that it was the greatest mistake of the Centre.

Joy further charged that the State reached the present mess due to the financial indiscipline of the then MSCP Government.

An MPP Ministry will work to redress the grievances, he said.

The manifesto strongly called for checking defections by amending the Anti-Defection Law.

MPP will introduce a white paper on resource generation besides paying proper attention to the upgradation of cottage and small scale industries.

Promising to make inroads into sericulture and horticulture sectors, the MPP election agenda said it will provide mid day meal, free books and universal education to all 14 plus children.

Besides mentioning 30 percent seat reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislature and jobs, it will try to solve the insurgency problem through dialogue.

If the need arises, general amnesty will be given to the militants.

The manifesto also vowed to set a State womens commission, Manipur Regiment in the army, a separate High Court besides fighting against AIDS/HIV and improving the PDS system.
