HPC(D) for free and fair polling

Churachandpur, May 25 2010: Close on the heels of the KNO issuing regulations for safe conduct of the ADC election in Churachandpur, the Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) in a statment appealed to all parties concerned to ensure free and fair and democratic conduct of electioneering for the Churachandpur Autonomous district council election.

John F Hmar, Publicity Officer in a statement issued to the press said that the HPC(D) is in favour of free votes and said that everybody should be free to exercise their franchise.

The HPC(D) request not to practice canvassing, rigging, booth capturing and all sort of undemocratic practices.

The organization will ensure a free and fair votes and is not supporing or advocating for any particular candidate, he said.

Event as all preparations for the election are in places, tension is brewing up in some polling booth areas because some candidates are determine to contest the election while some organization at the same time are adamant to blocking the opening of their election office within a particular polling booths within the heart of the town.

All personnel have reach their postings and full security arrangement have been made by the district administration to ensure free and fair election for the 170 polling booths in the district.

However, many of the constituencies will be unable to go out and vote since their candidates have won the election uncontest.
