BJP calls Chidambaram 'problem creator'

Imphal, May 13 2010: BJP today strongly criticized the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram for the prevailing crisis in Manipur and demanded the Centre to withdraw the permission granted to the Naga rebel leader Th Muivah to enter the state.

Chidambaram, as a Home Minister, is a problem creator, BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javedkar said at a press conference here.

He cited the the large scale violence in Andhra Pradesh on the issue of creation of Telangana state in that state.

He (Chidambaram) had given assurance for the creation of a separate Telangana state, which later created a big problem resulting in the loss of many people's lives in Andhra Pradesh.

He did not get prior consent from the state concerned.

Likewise, he had permitted the rebel leader, Th Muivah to enter Manipur without prior consultation and consent from Manipur government, he said.

"Muivah's visit should be withdrawn immediately," he demanded asserting his visit in Manipur will give a false alarm to the people of Manipur where every national political leader at New Delhi assured that territorial integrity of Manipur will not be disturbed in any cost.

BJP's stance for the territorial integrity of the state is very clear.

The party had and has been opposing any move to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur, the spokesperson when on to say.

He also demanded that state government should take up step immediately to ensure availability of all essential commodities in selected store in reasonable prices till the situation in the state is calm down and return to normalcy.

On the issued of employee strike, Javedkar insisted to end the strike through negotiation.

Government should start negotiation with the striking JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.

Javedkar who was among an eight-member committee formed by the BJP at the Centre coming to Manipur to look into the state situation Thursday briefed the media today at BJP, Manipur Pradesh office, Imphal at 4 pm.

Among other the BJP team included Nitin Gadkari, Prakash Javadekar, Tarun Vijay and party MP Bijoya Chakravarty arrived here in Imphal to assess the situation in the state over the standoff of the Manipur government on NSCN (IM) general secretary, Th Muivah's visit and hold public meeting in Naga dominated hill districts of the state.

The committee will discuss the situation with civil society activists, party workers and police and government officials, party source said.

The delegation will back to the national capital tomorrow and give its report to Gadkari an agency report said adding that the delegation will also meet Home Minister P Chidambaram before submitting its report.
