Imphal, January 13: The former chief minister of the state, RK Dorendro, has said that the voting public needed to exercise great care in the forthcoming elections to ensure that they chose worthy representatives.

Addressing Yaiskul mandal BJP workers at a political conference today, Dorendro said the uncertainty and crises the state went through last year was the creation of the incompetent and inept political leadership that was at the helm of affairs in the state.

The political turmoil, the chaos over the ceasefire area extension issue, the tragic loss of life and property were all the fault of a power-mad leadership that was unfit to rule, he reiterated.

He also pointed out that developmental works had halted, centrally sponsored schemes were not being implemented and employees were not getting their salaries and pensions.

While mentioning that he and the state BJP leadership had made strenuous objections to the Central leadership on the ceasefire area extension issue, he said that if the public did not exercise care in electing their representatives, the state was in for further trouble.

Dorendro, who is the BJP's candidate for Yaiskul constituency, told the crowd that he was contesting for the BJP in the elections taking the whole political scenario in the state into consideration.

He reiterated that no single party would be able to gain a majority in the forthcoming elections, and said the BJP would have a role to play in the formation of the government.

He however maintained that the BJP would not be part of a government that included either the Congress or the CPI.
