Ex-KRA leader DT Haokip shot dead

Imphal, July 11: The dead body that was lying at the border of Chekiye 'B' towards Selouphe also under Diphupar Police Station at around 1.45 pm on Thursday, has been identified as that of DT Haokip, the former Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) leader who had joined the NSCN-IM and then reportedly joined the NSCN-Unification fold later, according to reports.

DT Haokip was reportedly abducted from a house at Nagarjan area in Dimapur in the morning of Thursday and killed at Diphupar area later by unidentified gunmen.

Meanwhile, even as the Western Sumi Students' Union (WSSU) imposed a 12-hour Dimapur bandh on Friday in protest against the unabated factional clash between the rival factions of the NSCN at Dimapur, a civilian was killed in cross fire of factional clash at Khuboto Town, Dimapur district.

Sources revealed that the rival factions of NSCN continued to clash in separate places.

The NSCN-IM and NSCN-Unification continued their clash in Lotovi village at 9:00 am and lasted for around 20 minutes while at Khuboto Sub-Division at 12:30 pm, which lasted for more than an hour.

A civilian identified as one Hussain Ali was killed in the cross fire of the factional clash.

The victim was reportedly sitting in his house when two bullets hit him, one on the head and other on the back.

Sources revealed that the bandh starting from 6:00 am passed off peaceful without any untoward incidents being reported from any quarter because of the bandh.

In yet another incident, after a brief lull of factional killings in the Nagaland capital Kohima, a former 'ss corporal' of NSCN-IM was reportedly shot dead by rival faction at New Market road Thursday night at around 11:00 pm.

Confirming the report, official sources revealed that the victim has been identified as A..SYuingam, 37 years, son of late AS Shangkai of Shangshak village under Ukhrul district of Manipur.

He was reportedly abducted by armed NSCN-K cadres from Lower Agri colony area last at around 9:30 am and later shot dead at New Market area.

Sources revealed that he had been discharged last month from the NSCN-IM service and was in Kohima visiting his relatives.

Police recovered two live rounds of AK47 ammunition, two empty case of AK47, nine empty cases of 9mm and a bullet head.
