Churachandpur, February 09: Election campaign for the forthcoming Assembly election is gaining tempo in CCpur district during the last few days with the Congress showing the way with three well attended meetings already under its belt.

NCP candidate V Hangkhanlian who is expected to give a good fight to the Congress (I) candidate T Phungzathang Tonsing is set to follow suit and everything is ready to inaugurate his (Hangkhanlian) election office on Monday.

NCP State president S Tiken will inaugurate the office.

Meanwhile the CCpur District Joint Philanthropic Organization�s (CDJPO) meet the candidates programme started at the Synod Hall here from today.

The meet the candidates programme is being organized with the primary objective of ensuring free and fair election.

CCpur District Christian Goodwill Council has also appealed to the public to make the election free and fair.

The largest Church organization in the district, the Evangelical Baptist Convention has also declared Election day as a day for prayer.

Responding to the call of the Indigenous People's Revolutionary Alliance to all its member organizations not to interfere in the poll process, the Zomi Reunification Organization and the Kuki National Army have already come out with public announcements that they will not interfere in the election.
